Westlake Elementary is home to a fabulous Chorus Program through the cooperative efforts of the Arts Council of the Conejo Valley, the Conejo Recreation & Park District, and Hillcrest Center for the Arts. Each year our chorus students have the opportunity to perform at the Civic Arts Plaza in our All District Chorus Festival and in our annual school musical.

General Description of Chorus Program

Kristi McCalve

Kristi McClave has been teaching voice for over 10 years. It all started when she was asked to sub a voice class at West Coast Dance Theatre in Los Angeles. Her flawless vocal technique (developed with Celebrity vocal coach Roger Love) and her ability to teach students how to perform and connect with songs skyrocketed Kristi into the teaching community. Since then, she has been sought after for private instruction by both young and seasoned performers. Kristi has Musically Directed countless talent shows, showcases, and main-stage productions and is known for her fun and energetic teaching style as well as getting her students to go above and beyond their comfort level.

The Elementary Chorus Program is held in two semesters and runs for the entire year. Through the Elementary School Chorus Program, The Arts Council of the Conejo Valley strives in helping students find their inner voice of music. The Arts Council feels that making music involves complex, higher order neural processes that integrate aural, spatial, logical, linguistic, kinesthetic, and emotional connection. We hope that the Elementary School Chorus program will be a pathway for each student to discover an appreciation for music.
